Sadie has spent her life working aboard her father's crabbing boat, dismissing myths of the deep, until Kyros boards their ship during a storm, with blood on his hands, and throws her overboard.
Instead of drowning, Sadie discovers she isn't human but something forbidden. Kyros takes her to Tideborn, an underwater city on the brink of collapse due to a rival pod siphoning the Great Current, destroying hunting grounds and crops.
Only someone with Sadie's blood can fix it. With monsters lurking in the depths and the Red Bloom near, Kyros—the man who betrayed her—is the only one who can keep her alive.
He claims she's their last hope, but Sadie isn't sure she wants to save his world; she might rather watch it burn.
