How it starts

On Dajahim, magic is awarded to those who earn it—who entertain and please the stars. Nova Tershetta was lucky enough to have her prayers answered, becoming the first in her known bloodline to possess magic. However, this gift comes with a cost. While Nova now has centuries of life ahead as a magic-wielding shaytan, her cherished non-magical eadi family does not. After years of researching ways to extend their lives, she decides to enroll in the Elite Academy, aiming to acquire shadow magic and secure a better future for them all. Yet, the elite forces are composed of purists who would rather see eadi like Nova perish than exist in peace or prosperity. Can she survive the academy and find a way to extend her family's lives, or will she discover that Dajahim is not a safe place for those who don't conform to the purists' mold?
