How it starts

In the walled city of Sanctuary, society is divided into hierarchical rings, with the elite fervently worshipping the Geist and the poor living in fear. Adrian, a Third Ringer, has always tolerated the gods rather than worshipped them. However, she is thrust into the Trials, a brutal series of physical and psychological challenges imposed by the gods. Paired against her will with Dante, a First Ringer who embodies everything she despises, Adrian must navigate religious zealots, a patriarch intent on exploiting their union for power, and the cruel whims of the gods.
